At The S Way, every outfit begins with a woman and her story. Our customers don’t just come to us for clothes—they come with dreams, insecurities, pride, memories, and hope. And we listen. We understand. We translate. With every drape, cut, colour, and weave, we shape not just garments—but reflections of who she truly is.

She brings her vision, and we bring our craftsmanship. Together, we co-create fashion that uplifts, empowers, and celebrates her. She is our muse, our canvas, our collaborator. This bond—real, evolving, and deeply personal—is the thread that holds The S Way together.

1. We Are Size Positive
Story of Riniki Das, Tezpur
Riniki had always loved fashion but found herself constantly left out of the conversation. Brands didn’t cater to her size, and it began to chip away at her confidence. But when she found us, she clicked on our “Looking for Customisation?” button—and we began her transformation.
We designed a beautiful kurta that flattered her shape, celebrated her spirit, and made her feel radiant. This wasn’t just about fabric—it was about healing the scars society left behind. When she wore her custom-made TSW outfit, she didn’t just smile—she shone. That is our greatest reward.

2. Style Consultations That Uplift
Story of Anamika Boro, Jorhat
Anamika had doubts about a colour. As someone with a dusky complexion, she’d internalised the idea that certain shades weren’t for her. But beauty isn’t one-tone-fits-all—and we were ready to show her that.
She used our customisation tab, and we walked her through the basics of colour theory, inspired by Korean personal colour styling. With our guidance, she chose a rich teal shade for her kurta—one that made her features pop and her confidence bloom.
It was no longer about what society thought suited her.
It was about what made her feel beautiful.

3. A Mother-Daughter Moment to Remember
Story of Tarali & Malati, Guwahati
For Mother’s Day, Tarali had a heartfelt vision—to twin with her mother, Malati, at her office celebration. She didn’t want anything generic. She wanted something rooted, meaningful, and proudly handloom.
We designed a graceful draped dress in soft handwoven fabric for Tarali, and a classic kurta-pyjama co-ord for Malati in a matching palette. When they walked in, they weren’t just twinning—they were glowing.
Two women. Two generations.
One powerful statement of pride, grace, and togetherness.
And yes, they bagged all the compliments!

4. A Bride’s Dream, Tailored with Love
Story of Neelakshi Phukan, Dibrugarh
All Neelakshi had was a colour palette and a dream. And with that, we set out to create a bridal ensemble unlike any other.
We dyed silk yarns from scratch, carefully selected motifs that enhanced her silhouette, and wove the fabric in-house. Her blouse was especially designed to gently conceal areas she felt conscious about—because no bride should feel anything less than stunning on her big day.
The result? A regal, custom-made TSW lehenga that captured her essence. When she walked down the aisle, she wasn’t just a bride—she was a vision. A woman owning her moment.

Weaving Confidence, One Story at a Time
At The S Way, we don’t just stitch fabric—we sew self-esteem, pride, culture, and courage into every outfit. These stories are only a glimpse of what happens every day behind our seams.
We’re here to create not just beautiful clothes, but powerful experiences. Because fashion should never exclude—it should empower.
And to every woman reading this—
You are already complete. You are already worthy.
Let us dress you in a way that reflects just that.

With all our heart,
Team TSW

Every year, the wedding season treats us to an Instagram feed full of dreamy wedding pictures, mesmerizing makeup artists creating bridal makeover videos that we obsess over, designers showcasing their latest bridal collections, and the launch of exquisite new jewelry. And we’re certainly not complaining! Indian weddings are grand celebrations, and now with social media ruling the scene, we find ourselves celebrating even strangers’ weddings from afar. When it comes to weddings, it’s not just celebrities whose events are aesthetically pleasing; with excellent wedding photographers capturing outstanding moments, movie-like decorations and lighting, and enchanting music for all occasions, it seems like everyone’s wedding is filled with smiles, blush, and happy tears, just like scenes from a divine photograph. Bollywood movies, even before the arrival of social media, have always depicted weddings as extravagant affairs, complete with Mehendi songs, Sangeet dances, and the thrill of bridal shopping, giving us the ultimate fairy tale escapism. These stories were often based in North India, and now, with the influence of social media, many hit series on Netflix, and more, it has been established that weddings can be larger-than-life affairs for so many.

However, in Assam, weddings are characterized by simplicity and serenity. There aren’t many events for Mehendi or dancing, but instead, it’s a sweet and elegant celebration of culture. During important rituals, regional wedding songs are sung by the women in the family and the neighborhood. Rituals involve the use of banana trees and their bark for various purposes, mango leaf strings, beetle nuts in Sorai, etc., serving as centrepieces for decorations. But hey! That’s not the case anymore. With endless wedding celebration notifications on social media, the allure of extravagance has seeped in, and now even Assamese weddings are vibrant with picturesque decor and include events like Mehendi and cocktail parties/sangeet. Magnificent wedding venues along the banks of the Brahmaputra or within resorts with tea gardens have become popular choices. Being a fashion brand owner, what I obsess over the most is the bridal fashion which has evolved over the seasons, with great designs now blending traditional handloom silk with subtle English colors like pastel pink, peach, and sky blue. While, the traditional handwoven motifs still shine in zari and meenakari threads in delicate shades blending in with the trend. Today, the bridal collections in Assam look nothing less than viral dusty pink lehenga of Anushka Sharma or ivory white saree of Alia Bhatt. With the advent of bridal lehengas, Assam’s handloom silk has found its new form. The grand and flattering flares of silk lehengas flaunt traditional Assamese motifs, while exquisite designer blouses and dupattas/sadors come together to create pieces of art – the new Assamese Bride. Amidst these new bridal fashion trends, the handloom silk of the region still holds centre stage in weddings. The love for mekhela sador in the Assamese wedding season only reaches new heights of craze, whether in traditional colours or trending ones. So, every wedding season, I happily find myself glued to my phone as I scroll through and admire the wedding fashion trends of the season, going to bed with a full heart.

The night jasmine gracing our doorsteps with its enchanting beauty and exhilarating fragrance beautifully serves to  remind us that it is that time of the year when we welcome the Goddess of power and strength – Devi Durga. Durga Puja is celebrated with immense joy and high spirit. And no celebration in India comes without excitement of dressing up in our best possible selves for the occasion and with Durga Puja blessing us with 6 days to be our best dressed selves, who would not be thrilled?

Here are my 6 festive look suggestions that will get one through these 6 days like a goddess herself!

Maha Panchami:

With this day beginning the celebrations, the outfit can be joyful but not necessarily too heavy. Patched work skirts with Indian regional prints and vibrant colours, gives easy and ethnic vibe. Paired with a plain shirt in white or black can do all the magic.  Add some “chaand bali” as accessories and your Maha Panchami outfit is sorted.

Maha Sashti:

Kurta and straight cut pants with a complimenting dupatta is one of the trends this season. This look is festive, stylish and very experimental in terms of colours from pastel to dark and dupatta options from silk to organza to net. Pick your colour and dupatta and steal the show on Maha Sashti with this stylish, well curated look. Accessories can be matching bangles, payal, a bindi and a pair of studs.

Maha Saptami:

By this day, we are in high spirit of our celebrations and our dress should reflect the same. A layering of outfits gives a well styled look. A solid coloured kurta and straight trouser set in silk or semi silk fabric can be layered with an overcoat with mirror work or embroidery or any heavy work on it that makes the entire look grand. The accessories can by matching oxidized heavy jhumkas and Kohlapuri chappals.

Maha Ashtami:

This is one of the most sacred day of the 5 days of celebrations and I would recommend a saree for this day. A saree brings eternal elegance and, when styled well, makes one look divine. Pick your festive colour or print or combination of both or type of saree fabric you find festive. Wear that saree, pair it with a complimenting blouse, give some thought on the design of the blouse,  neat pleats, a bold bindi, bangles, a necklace and a pair of studs. In this look, one will feel like a celebration herself.

Maha Navami:

There is an unmatched grandeur of a full length heavy ghera ( more folds, flowy) kurta with fancy back or side tassels/tie ups. With pretty Jaipuri Juttis, a pretty dupatta in silk or organza and some heavy earrings to go with, the Navami can be celebrated with a ravishing style.

Vijaya Dashami:

The last day of Durga Puja, filled with colour play, energy and joy. This day can be about ease and ethnicity than style. Wear anything that defines ethnicity to you. It can be a pretty earthy toned kurta and trousers with an oxidized statement choker or a cotton handloom saree with bangles, a simple bun and flower dressing on it.

Let’s make this Durga Puja about styling looks with ease and ethnicity glamorously! Happy Durga Puja to all you lovely people.

Romanticizing monsoon has been eternal. Can we ever not feel a blush on our cheeks thinking about the first rain, a cup of coffee in a café while enjoying the rain or a romantic evening in a side table drinking wine, loving the art that the window glass has become with those sparkling rain drops! Monsoon is pure love. Well, while such a lovely season has arrived what do we see ourselves wearing? What really makes us fall in love with the one standing in front of the mirror during this season? While these thoughts were going on in my mind, I could hear the sound of rainfall and yes, there was a smile.

It’s true that monsoon comes with its own challenges, wet streets, muddy shoes and not so perfect hair sometimes. However, I see a glass half full. I cannot emphasize enough that the idea of a gracefully worn white kurta over a blue denim (could be distressed adding on to the style), oxidized jhumkaas, kohled eyes and a bindi, hair open, slides for feet and a vibrant umbrella, the sight of a lady adorning this look in the rain would feel like a Sun sprinkling sunshine on everyone around.

I relate rain to poetry and a look that comes to my mind thinking of poetry is an ankle length dress in solid colours from earthy tones, a pair of beautiful tie up sandals , a big handbag which can accommodate monsoon essentials (like an umbrella, mini towel etc),  a high bun, hoop earrings or something minimal as an accessory. Imagine a girl stunningly styled in this look standing outside a café waiting for her cab while it is raining, won’t that sight bring some poetic thoughts to those around her? “The sparkle of the rain drops faded at her glance, the knots on her curls held the stories untold….”

Fun fashion is something I absolutely love to do. By this I mean play with vibrant colours, some quirky outfit choices and carrying the look like a boss. An oversize graphic T shirt with some vibrant colours on it with a bold short skirt in a loud colour or a denim distressed shorts, with red/yellow/green/ gum boots and a fancy raincoat (the vinyl transparent ones) and there you go. This monsoon look will be the coolest one anybody would ever spot. I for one would style like this monsoon or no monsoon!

This was my take on monsoon fashion that I wrote sipping a cup of hot tea, overlooking the grey-green play of the clouds and nature. Happy styling and happy monsoon.

Stories unveils to us the world full of different characters, places, moments between the characters in those places, the words spoken and even the ones unspoken. Bollywood does master not just presenting these amazing stories in the most delightful and engaging way but it also takes us on a ride with all its charm of head turning looks, glamorous clothing, jewelry, overall styling and what not. “Trend setter” is what some of the great movies with iconic characters give us. By the very nature of trends, they come and they go but there are sure a few amazing looks or outfits or fashion trends that stayed and became a regular fit.

Sarees and salwar suits have been an integral part of an Indian wardrobe. However, with westernization making its hold stronger everyday, jeans, skirts and shorts are what girls prefer to wear and still is an everyday ensemble. But there have been a few super hit movies that made a breakthrough in the fashion game of the country and itched itself on our choice of wear so much so that is has become a basic go to look for an everyday rush/comfort wear.

Will we ever forget that epic scene from the movie “Jab We Met”, Geet’s introductory scene as she catches the train. Classic white shirt, blue denim and a vibrant Phulkari dupatta/stole, accessorized with jhumkas and bangles is never going to go out of fashion. The Indo-Western fusion has never been done this better. The oversized graphic T-shirt with a fabulous Patiala pyjama is as iconic as Rabina Tandon’s yellow saree in “Tip Tip Barsa Paani….” song. Also, those amazing songs in the voice of Shreya Ghoshal in the movie where Kareena wears Chikkankari lucknowi kurta with a jeans, can that ever be not working! The fusion look is here to stay and I being a fan girl will never be able to put a time for this to go out of fashion.

This Indian girl loves sarees like billion others. The thing to think about is when did this apparel became not just for our mothers and aunts but also for us. Sushmita Sen with her eternal grace in “Main Hoon Na”, redefined saree. The minimalist look with a saree for teaching, well, that worked for us. Who wouldn’t love to drape a lightweight saree, style up minimal and slay the work look. With many businesses growing on Instagram, it has become evident that the current women workforce are open to wearing sarees to work. There are businesses that makes sarees having this elegant, minimalistic look and these enterprises are flourishing. Soft, light weight comfortable saree is a power dress and we love it. After all, who wouldn’t love to look like Sushmita Sen everyday at work.

The ultimate diva of Bollywood, Deepika Padukone has owned the fashion game for over a decade now. From various global film fests, prestigious red carpet appearances to many a glamorous looks in her movies she has rocked it all. It is intriguing that what became a revolutionary look, the one that has completely changed how girls dress in India now, is rather a simple one. The “kurta and leggings” look, the basic, the one that stayed and will stay for many a more decades. The vibrant desi printed kurtas with complimenting, comfortable leggings owning the silver screen in the movie “Love Aaj Kal” changed how the Indian girls dress. The way Deepika glamourized this desi look of kurta and made it simpler with a flexible, comfortable leggings which completes the look without the load of wearing a dupatta is everything an Indian girl needed. Like Deepika in the Delhi metro, looking fabulous in those amazing kurtas in the movie, today one will spot a thousand like her in the metros going to college, work and where not. Deepika’s on screen looks rather took a more impactful turn with her “boss lady”, “ power dressing” avatar in the movie “Piku”. Those earthy toned cotton kurtas, complimenting stoles, cotton palazzos and huge leather handbag, kohled eyes is everything stunning we want in our work look. That desi dress is for all to unleash the boss lady in them, to seize the day, to feel as if they are wearing their ethnicity up their sleeves as they start the marathon and wins. That’s what fashion is about, the one that stays and creates a space for itself in everyone’s life.

Well for now, this Bollywood fan is drooling over the MET GALA looks of the Hollywood celebrities and waiting eagerly for the next Bollywood fashion game. I think the current summer season is perfect to try those “Gehraiyyan” looks of Ananya Pandey and Deepika Padukone. What do you think?

Cheers to the fashion that stayed for all Indian fan girls.
